Wisconsin moved up to No. 8 in The Associated Press college football poll and now has its best ranking since October 2011 when the Badgers reached No. 4.

The top seven spots remained unchanged in the latest rankings with undisputed No. 1 Alabama once again dominating in a 48-0 victory over Kent State, No. 2 Ohio State sitting out on a bye week and Louisville, Michigan, Clemson and Houston all winning big

Wisconsin moved up three spots after dominating Michigan State 30-6 on Saturday in East Lansing, Michigan.

For his part in a dominant defensive performance that keyed that win over Michigan State, UW junior outside linebacker T.J. Watt has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Defensive Player of the Week.

Watt recorded 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks – both career highs – as part of a six-tackle day for the Badgers, who won their eighth-consecutive road game. He also recorded a pair of quarterback hurries and broke up a pass.

Watt leads the Big Ten and ranks in a tie for seventh nationally with 4.5 sacks on the year.
