In 2015, Accelerate Madison and the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce brought filmmaker Robin Hauser to Madison for an exclusive sold out Wisconsin screening and discussion of her new documentary, CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap. The acclaimed film explores the dearth of American women and people of color in the field of software engineering and the reasons for this gender gap and digital divide.

Now, two years later, the GMCC continues the conversation to discuss progress being made in Greater Madison and challenges still to overcome. Hauser will return to share reaction to the film as well as introduce her latest work, Bias.

The event will take place Wednesday, August 2 from 5 until 7 pm at the Longfellow Lofts Auditorium, 1015 Mound St, Madison, WI 53715.

“Cultivating talent in advanced industries like software engineering will be critical to the future strength of Greater Madison’s economy, particularly when it comes to promoting and encouraging women and people of color,” said GMCC President Zach Brandon. “In addition to being a great opportunity to reconnect with Robin Hauser, this event will address the progress we have made but also the challenges we still need to overcome on this important issue.”

Other panelists will include CODAworx CEO Toni Sikes, Maydm Executive Director Winnie Karanja, Foley & Lardner partner Anne Ross, and YWEB Career Academy instructor Rasheid Atlas.

Admission is free for Chamber members and $10 for non-members.
