Forward Community Investments (FCI) has chosen Madison365 as the media partner for its new Game Changer Grant program, the Madison-based community development financial institution announced today.
The Game Changer Grant program, launching this month, will give out one grant of $3,000 each month to small nonprofits, startups or even informal groups of committed people working to reduce racial inequity across Wisconsin. The application consists of only one short form and one 5-minute cell phone video.
“We are trying to lower the amount of time it takes for people to access money for this very important work,” said FCI president Salli Martyniak. “We need to get the word out statewide to the right people, and Madison365 is the perfect outlet to do that. They’re reaching the people we need to reach. Their audience is engaged in the community and already doing good work. We’re confident Madison365 will help us find those people on the ground, in those communities, and get them the resources they need.”
“This program is disruptive,” said Madison365 CEO Henry Sanders. “That’s what I love about it. FCI really gets it. People are out there, ready to do the work, they just don’t know how to access the funding. And they don’t have the time or resources to fill out stacks of forms. These grants are going to have a real impact, and we’re excited to tell those stories over the next year.”
