    The Opportunity

    The Morgridge Institute for Research seeks a research specialist to assist with managing the day-to-day operation of the Huisken laboratory within the Medical Engineering research focus area. The Research Specialist will be responsible for preparation of media and specimens for microscopy, maintenance of lab equipment, animal handling, and management of biosafety, animal, and human research protocols. The research specialist will also assist with ordering supplies, reconciling budgets, scheduling meetings, and supporting grant applications.

     

    Candidate Requirements

    Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical sciences or a related field. Graduate training in engineering or biological sciences is preferred.  The ideal candidate will have direct experience managing the day-to-day operations of the lab, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, overseeing lab safety/bio-safety record keeping and supervising research staff. Candidates must have strong writing and communication skills, ability to work well with others, be highly responsible and organized, and work both independently and within a dynamic research team.
