Lanterns for Peace will be held Wednesday, Aug. 9, 6:30-9 p.m. at the Tenney Park Shelter John Wall Family Pavilion, 1414 E Johnson St.

Wednesday, August 9th, marks 72 years since the U.S. bombing of Nagasaki, Japan. Gather at 6:30 pm at Tenney Park for making and floating peace lanterns on the Tenney Lagoon, advocacy action, a presentation by Caren Stelson, author of Sachiko: A Nagasaki Bomb Survivors Story, and singing. Join us to remember those who have died in war and to reflect on a peaceful, nuclear weapons-free world.

Lanterns for Peace is hosted annually by Physicians for Social Responsibility Wisconsin and co-sponsored by the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom Madison Branch, Wisconsin Network for Peace & Justice, Veterans for Peace Wisconsin, Outrider Foundation, PC Foundation, Linda and Gene Farley Center, Pax Christi-Madison, Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity-Gamma Theta Chapter and Willy Street Co-Op.
