Madison School District Summer School Closed Thursday

0

The Madison Metropolitan School District will close all summer school programs on Thursday, July 21 due to an excessive heat warning. Due to the lack of consistent air conditioning in buildings that house summer programs, the district made the decision to close all programs to ensure the safety of students and staff.

This includes all of the district’s summer school programs, enrichment courses, extended school year (ESY) and summer school Madison School and Community Recreation (MSCR) programs. Other MSCR programs will continue as normal.

Because summer school will be closed, food service will not take place at school buildings. Community meal programs will continue as normal.

For daycare and camp programs housed at MMSD sites, families should contact their daycare provider for specific information.

The district will continue to monitor weather forecasts for Friday, July 22 and will communicate decisions with families.
