Madison365, the nonprofit online multimedia news and information source for Greater Madison’s communities of color, has named former Madison Magazine associate editor Robert Chappell as its new Associate Publisher.

“Rob was key in helping us get started last year as a volunteer consultant, and we are excited to bring him on in this new role,” said 365 Media CEO Henry Sanders. “We’ve experienced incredible growth in the last few months. Through all of our channels, we are now reaching more than 240,000 people each month on average. Dave Dahmer is doing great work as the Editor in Chief of Madison365. We have a terrific stable of writers. We’ve forged some important partnerships with other media outlets and local organizations. We just reached 140,000 people last week, our biggest week yet. It’s time to take things to the next level.  The time is right for Rob to officially join the team.”

“I got my start in journalism at the age of 15, and it’s been an anchor for me ever since,” said Chappell. “I’m truly answering a calling by returning to journalism, especially for a publication and an organization with such an important mission.”

Chappell will work closely with Dahmer in guiding the editorial direction and content production for Madison365. He will also assist in business operations including fundraising, partnership development, promotions, events and educational programs.

In addition to two years as Madison Magazine associate editor, Chappell spent a year as editor in chief of the Fennimore Times and several years as a freelance reporter and features writer for publications such as Isthmus and The Capital Times. He also has many years of experience in public relations, including as Director of Strategic Communications for Overture Center for the Arts and Communications Director for Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton.
