The woman's hijab was stained with blood after she says she was stabbed

On Monday morning at 6 a.m. a Muslim woman says she was attacked in Milwaukee while walking home from prayer near 13th and Layton.

The woman, who asks to remain unnamed, said that the attacker pulled alongside her in a car and got out aiming for one thing: to remove her hijab, according to a Fox 6 News.

When she refused to allow to let go of her hijab, she was thrown to the ground and her head was repeatedly stepped on. The attacker also cut the women’s coat and arm with a knife, eventually removing the hijab and leaving it covered in blood.

Islamophobia is believed to be the sole motivation of the attack as none of the victim’s possessions were taken.

The Islamic Society of Milwaukee discussed having the area patrolled by security after the incident, Fox6 reported.

The woman was able to make it home after the attack, but later had a seizure and was taken to the hospital. She was released Tuesday afternoon.
