Channel3000logoSquareMADISON, Wis. – Madison police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly home invasion Tuesday on the city’s north side.

Michael Meaderds, 33, was shot just after 4 p.m. during an armed home invasion in the 500 block of Northport Drive.

Madison police arrested 30-year-old Emmanuel Johnson of Sun Prairie Wednesday. Officers are still looking for 31-year-old Odum Carter, also of Sun Prairie, as a person of interest, according to police Chief Mike Koval.

The chief also commented on the nature of the crime.

“I don’t think you can treat it more graphically than to say what it is — a killing,” Koval said.

Koval said officers are trying to identify at least two other men who may have been involved in the home invasion, as seen in surveillance video.

Officers believe the incident started as robbery, but Koval said it was unclear what exactly the suspects were looking for inside the apartment. Koval added it appeared that the suspects knew Meaderds, but the extent to which they were acquainted is still unclear.

Koval said officers are waiting on DNA evidence to help aid them in their investigation.

Police are also looking for a 2010 Buick Lacrosse with license plate number 908-XXA in connection with the crime.
