Police Searching for Shooter on Southwest Side

Channel3000logoSquareMadison police said a woman was injured Monday morning when she was hit by flying glass when her window was shot out of her car on the city’s southwest side.

The incident happened around 10:40 a.m. near the corner of McKenna Boulevard and Raymond Road.

According to police, the woman, who is in her 50s, was driving in the area of McKenna and Raymond when she believed she was shot. She immediately went to the west side police district on McKenna Boulevard, where officers determined she was injured by shards of glass.

Madison police were searching for a suspect in connection to the shooting. Police said a black man in his late 20s, approximately 6 feet tall with long dreadlocks last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black sweatpants with stripes was seen firing a handgun in the area of the 2000 block of McKenna Boulevard.

Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said the woman injured was shot at random and “was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
