Wisconsin junior inside linebacker Jack Cichy will miss the remainder of the 2016 season, UW announced today.

Cichy, a former walk-on and Wisconsin’s leading tackler, was injured in the second quarter of Saturday’s 17-9 win over Iowa, but stayed in the game until late in the fourth quarter.

Cichy had been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following a career performance the previous Saturday vs. Ohio State where he was a dominant force for the Badgers’ defense, finishing with a career-high 15 tackles, including 11 solo stops.

This past Saturday, Cichy finished with 10 tackles before being pulled in favor of sophomore Ryan Connelly. Following the game, Cichy said his right shoulder was “fine” and called the injury a “bruised muscle.”

The Badgers will host No. 7 Nebraska at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday at 6 p.m.
