The Wisconsin Partnership Program at the University School of Medicine and Public Health will host Advancing Health Equity: Working Together to Understand and Improve Health for All, a statewide conference focused on improving health, well-being and health equity in Wisconsin on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Union South Varsity Hall. Four hundred people are expected to attend the conference, which has reached full capacity.

The statewide conference brings national, regional and local health experts together with community organizations, public health professionals, health care providers, researchers, educators and community members to share perspectives and best practices on regional and national health equity efforts and how these efforts might be applicable in Wisconsin.

Featured keynote speakers include Dr. David Williams, Harvard scholar, author and internationally recognized authority on social influences on health; Dr. Susan Skochelak, Group Vice President for Medical Education at the American Medical Association; Dr. Edward Ehlinger, Minnesota Commissioner of Health; and Dr. Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola, Director of the University of California-Davis, Center for Reducing Health Disparities. Each speaker will be followed by a moderated panel of experts to discuss how issues presented resonate or play a role in improving health equity in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Partnership Program represents a far-reaching commitment by the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health to improve the health and well-being of Wisconsin residents through investments in research, education and community partnerships. Established in 2004, the Wisconsin Partnership Program has awarded more than 427 research, education and community partnership grants totaling more than $186 million, aimed at improving the health of the people of Wisconsin.
