The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County (BGCDC), in partnership with Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), will celebrate 213 AVID/TOPS senior class students who will graduate from high school this semester and attend college in the fall at a College Decision Day event on Wednesday, May 7, 5:30 p.m. at Gordon Dining and Event Center on the UW-Madison campus.
College Decision Day is a special evening to recognize the dedication, determination, and future goals of these incredible scholars — many of whom will be the first in their families to attend college, BGCDC said in a press release on Monday. Wednesday’s event celebrates a major milestone for more than 213 AVID/TOPS seniors from the Class of 2025 who will graduate from high school this June and take the next step in their academic journeys by attending colleges and universities across the country.
“College Decision Day is an incredible event to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our graduating AVID/TOPS scholars. Each one of these students has worked very hard, and we are excited to use this night to highlight their accomplishments,” said Michael Johnson, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County, in a statement.
College Decision Day brings together families, educators, and community partners to recognize students’ achievements and the impact of educational support programs like AVID/TOPS.
“We are not only celebrating our students’ accomplishments, we are seeing what’s possible when our learners are given the support and tools they need to succeed,” said MMSD Superintendent Joe Gothard. “The Boys & Girls Club of Dane County is an invaluable partner as we work together to ensure our students are college, career and community ready.”
Gordon Dining and Event Center is located at 770 W Dayton St. in Madison.
