Dane Dances, a summertime favorite in Madison, will kick off its 27th season on Friday, Aug. 7, on the rooftop of the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center.
This year, Dane Dances is featuring Joyce “Fenderella” Irby, the voice of the platinum-selling all-girl band Klymaxx. Irby was the original lead singer and bass player on three of Klymaxx’s four biggest records, including their biggest hit “I Miss You.” Irby, as a solo artist on Motown, also had the #1 selling Billboard Urban hip-hop record “Mr. D.J.” with Doug E Fresh in the summer of 1989.
Dane Dances will feature a different lineup of musical guests each week on the Monona Terrace Convention Center rooftop, featuring a unique cultural showcase of local and regional bands. The schedule, per Dane Dances, is as follows:

KLYMAXX / JOYCE IRBY (R&B/Funk/Pop) – 8:00 PM
• Week 4: August 28 – The Rhythm Moves You
COLD SWEAT & THE BREW CITY HORNS (Dance/Pop/Rock) – 6:00 PM
ORQUESTA SALSOUL DEL MAD (Latin/Fusion) – 8:00 PM
Delicious food will be available each Friday at Dane Dances throughout the summer from the Lake Vista Café, La Taguara, Melly Mells Catering, and Kipps Kitchen.
