A federal grand jury has approved the first charges in the investigation into Russian meddling in the American presidential election led by special prosecutor Robert Mueller, CNN reported.
Sources briefed on the matter told CNN that plans were being prepared for the people charged to be taken into custody as early as Monday.
A spokesman for the special counsel’s office declined to comment.
CNN reports that a “flurry of activity” was seen in the grand jury room but officials made no announcements.
