Kachkanikuraqmi / Seguimos Siendo / We Continue Existing will take place Friday, June 4, 7-9 p.m.

The event will be presented by Arts + Literature Laboratory (ALL), a community art space for visual, literary and performing artists to share their work and create new connections.

“Kachkanikuraqmi” in the Quechua language means “We Continue Being” – a phrase that encapsulates the miracle of our community’s continued survival and resilience as Indigenous peoples of the Americas, despite historical genocide and continued oppression during the pandemic. Latinx and descendants of various Indigenous communities in Central and South America, artist Richie Morales, dancer Natalia Armacanqui and poet Claudia Vaca present and perform a ritualistic homage to the living and the dead, as a cathartic cultural community sacred space, inspired by Morales’s painting series at the Arts and Literature Laboratory entitled “The Effects of Time of Memory.”
