New Year’s Eve is one of the most fun nights of the year, but it can also be dangerous, so to help keep more people safe, Madison Metro is offering free bus rides on the holiday.

Madison is teaming up with Miller Lite to provide rides free of charge until 3:30 a.m.

All routes will be running to places like the town of Madison, Middleton and of course downtown.

The transit company hopes to give 4,000 free rides by the end of the night.

“It just helps prevent drunk driving,” said Mic Rusch, of Madison Metro. “Our drivers drive the Madison streets every day of the year, so they are the professionals that know the streets. So if you’re out enjoying the New Year, just let people who know the roads drive and navigate it for you.”

If you take the bus on Dec. 31, they ask that you tweet out photos of your travels using the #MetroNYE.
