UPDATE: Madison College has closed all campuses district-wide.
All Madison schools will be closed Monday due to inclement weather, the district announced Sunday.
Most other districts throughout South Central Wisconsin had also already decided to close Sunday evening. Check the full listings at our partner site, Channel3000.com.
Additionally, Madison Mayor Paul Soglin announced that garbage collection in the City would be suspended Monday. Public Health Dane County also announced that all offices and clinics would be closed.
Forecasters anticipate up to 12 inches of snow to fall from Sunday night into Monday. Record low temperatures are also anticipated this week, making road salt ineffective. Temperatures on Wednesday could be particularly dangerous, as windchills in the range of 60 degrees below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in mere minutes.
Madison school officials said they would monitor weather over the next few days and make decisions about whether to close additional days.
