The Urban League of Madison will host its fourth annual Unity Picnic at Villager Mall on Saturday.

The picnic begins officially at noon outside of Urban League on the south side of Madison at 2222 S. Park street. It will go until 5pm, with a VIP event starting at 11am inside Urban League’s headquarters.

There will be plenty of fun (and, better yet, food) for families and individuals who attend! Urban League is going all out this year with the Big Bouncy House, clowns, and free barbecue for the entire community. BP Smokehouse is going to be providing smoked pork and burgers outside while DJ Ace, Trend-N-Topic and Kinfolk provide entertainment.

The Unity Picnic has traditionally been a place where members of the community from all over Madison can just enjoy free dancing, free food, face painting and a chance to mingle.

“We hope it will be a community building activity where folks from all walks of life will come out and have a break from their lives,” Dr. Ruben Anthony, CEO of Urban League, told Madison365. “There will be music and eating. It brings people to the south side of Madison and gives all of the people around Villager Mall a chance to congregate.”

Dr. Anthony says Urban League will receive two checks as part of a fundraising campaign during the event as well.

2018 marks the 50th anniversary of Urban League and so anyone who attends is encouraged to wear something gold!
