Madison365, the multimedia news and information platform for and by Wisconsin’s communities of color, has reached a content-sharing agreement with the Hocak Worak, the Ho-Chunk Nation’s official newspaper. The agreement will allow both outlets to republish content produced by the other.

“The Ho Chunk people are such an important part of the Wisconsin community, and not enough people know about the issues they’re facing and the great things they’re doing,” said Henry Sanders, Madison365 Publisher and CEO. “We have a platform that’s now reaching one million people every month all around the midwest, and I’m excited to bring Ho Chunk voices to that audience.”

“All people of Wisconsin should know what’s happening in the Ho Chunk Nation,” said Hocak Worak Editor Marlon WhiteEagle. “Wisconsin is our ancestral homeland. We are part of the community. Our stories range from our efforts to protect the environment and sacred burial grounds to how our annual basketball tournament draws teams from across the US and how our unique history plays a role in our everyday lives.”

Madison365 lifts up people of color and their voices in a new and unique way, he said.

“I’m thrilled that Madison365 will offer a platform for our stories to reach a broader audience,” WhiteEagle said.

Hocak Worak is printed twice monthly, distributed to members of the Ho Chunk Nation and subscribers, and has an online presence. It is a member of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and the Native American Journalists Association. The newspaper has won several awards from both organizations.
