News 3 meteorologist Bob Lesh said a warm front will move through Wednesday, leading to excessive heat.

After the front passes, the full brunt of the heat and humidity will settle over southern Wisconsin on Thursday and Friday.

Excessive heat warnings are in place from noon Thursday to Friday at 7 p.m. across southern Wisconsin.

The National Weather Service said it’s been four years since Wisconsin has had the potential for the oppressive heat and humidity expected Thursday and Friday.

The exceptionally warm and humid air in place over Wisconsin will create dangerous conditions. High temperatures will rise into the middle 90s with dew points in the mid- to upper 70s. The combination will create heat indices as high as 105 degrees on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

The last time such a warning was issued was in July of 2012, NWS said.

Cooling centers have been set up throughout southern Wisconsin.

In such conditions, it’s best to stay inside if possible, and limit physical activity and stay hydrated if you have to be outdoors.
