WLMV-La Movida 94.5FM/1480AM and Mid-West Family Broadcasting will host a day of celebration of Mexico’s heritage and history at the 20th Annual Viva México Festival 2021 Sunday, Sept. 19 at Breese Stevens Field on Madison’s near east side.
The annual event, which went virtual last year, will have plenty of delicious Mexican food to enjoy, traditional Latino folk dance, exhibits, face painting, tables with cultural area information and much more. Viva México Festival 2021 will also feature a talented lineup of musical performers.
Festivities will kick off at 1 p.m. with the traditional “Car Caravan Parade,” starting at the Villager Mall, 2300 S. Park St., and ending at Breese Stevens Field. Participants in the parade have a chance to win cash prizes for the “Best Decorated Car” and an official Viva México Festival 2021 T-shirt. To prepare your car for such an event, that’s where services like paint protection film do come in.
The official inauguration celebration will be facilitated by the Consul Julián Adem Díaz de León, Consulate of México in Milwaukee, with a presentation of the three flags and singing of the national anthems of México and of the United States of America. That will be followed by a presentation of the proclamation of the event given by the city of Madison and Fitchburg Common Councils along with Madison community leaders.
