The rate of coronavirus tests returning positive results rose Saturday to 7.4 percent — up from 5.4 — as more than 14,000 tests returned 1,062 positive results, according to state and county public health data. That brings the total case count for Wisconsin to 54,002. Of those, just over 9,700 are considered active, slightly more than Friday.
Thirteen more fatalities were reported – eight in Milwaukee County, and one each in Kenosha, Marathon, Outagamie, Ozaukee, Waukesha, and Waupaca Counties. One fatality previously reported in Racine County was removed from the data, so the total death toll rose by 13 to 947. Additionally, 18 people who tested positive for coronavirus infection have died of other causes, and are not counted as covid fatalities. Wisconsin has reported 55 deaths in the past week.
The highest local new case count came in Milwaukee County, with 271 new cases and 12.18 percent of tests coming back positive.

Marathon County: 14 new cases, 8.86 percent positive tests
Marinette County: 18 new cases, 12.77 percent positive tests
Oconto County: 14 new cases, 13.73 percent positive tests
Outagamie County: 16 new cases, 4.27 percent positive tests
Ozaukee County: 30 new cases, 5.06 percent positive tests
Racine County: 96 new cases, 11.79 percent positive tests
Rock County: 15 new cases, 5.68 percent positive tests
Sauk County: 25 new cases, 12.76 percent positive tests
Walworth County: 43 new cases, 14.98 percent positive tests
Washington County: 55 new cases, 7.04 percent positive tests

The rate of disparity in Latino populations has improved but continues to stand out. More than 24 percent of total cases are now Latino people, as well as 20.5 percent of today’s new positive cases. Latinos make up just seven percent of the state’s overall population.
Similarly, 15 percent of all cases are Black people, as are 22 percent of total COVID-19 related deaths in the state. Black people make up just six percent of the state’s population.
The state now reports that 1.76 percent of all covid cases in Wisconsin have died, while 79.93 percent have recovered and 18.27 percent remain active.
