Forward Madison FC has added Brazilian forward Lucca Dourado to its roster on loan from USL Championship side Birmingham Legion FC, the club announced Friday.
The 25-year-old São Paulo native arrives in Madison mid-season as the team looks to boost its offensive depth amid injury challenges. The club has scored just six goals in seven league matches.
Dourado made his Madison debut in New York on Saturday, coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute of the Mingos’ 1-1 draw against Westchester County SC.
“Lucca is an exciting mid-season addition from Birmingham Legion in the USL Championship,” head coach and technical director Matt Glaeser said in a written statement. “He is a young, hungry and talented goal-scorer who we feel could play in a few different roles for us. His goal-scoring history in college is solid and he is determined to come in and prove himself to help the team.”
Dourado made his mark at the University of Central Florida, where he earned first-team all-conference honors in four consecutive seasons. During his college career, he scored 43 goals in 69 appearances, posting a 22.5 percent shot conversion rate and 47.1 percent shooting accuracy.
“I’m very excited to join this team,” Dourado said in a written statement. “You know, it’s a great opportunity – a new challenge for me. Coming from Birmingham Legion, it was great there, but now it’s time for a new focus and I’m very grateful for this opportunity. I’m excited to start and start scoring goals.”
Dourado signed his first professional contract with Birmingham in January 2025. He appeared in two matches for Birmingham, logging 41 minutes of play.
