Daryl Fairweather, chief economist at the real estate brokerage and technology firm Redfin, will be the keynote speaker at the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce’s 72nd Annual Dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Monona Community and Convention Center.
Presented by Madison College, the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce will welcome nearly 1,300 business and community leaders for the region’s largest business event of its kind and the Chamber’s most impactful program of the year.
Prior to joining Redfin, Fairweather, who earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago, worked as a researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston studying why homeowners entered foreclosure during the 2008 housing crisis. She was also a senior economist at Amazon, working on employee engagement and managing a team of analysts. Her insights have been featured in “60 Minutes,” The New York Times and The Washington Post. Her 2025 book “Hate the Game” offers “cheat codes” for some of the most common dilemmas in life and business.
The theme for the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce’s 72nd Annual Dinner will be “Switch.”
“Greater Madison’s success now demands a Switch — in our perspective, our thinking, our willingness to work together and in our actions,” said Chamber President Zach Brandon in a statement.. “At this year’s Annual Dinner, with the help of Daryl Fairweather’s keen understanding of what decisions matter and how those decisions are made, we will activate this Switch together.”
