The Wisconsin Badgers football team heads to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Saturday for the first time ever when it faces the #19 Crimson Tide.

Alabama (1-1) defeated Wisconsin 42-10 at Camp Randall last year, but the Tide have struggled during the early part of this season under second year coach Kalen DeBoer.  The Tide lost their opening game to Florida State before defeating Louisiana-Monroe 73-0 last week.

The Badgers themselves have looked rough early on in the season, particularly on offense, but are still off to a 2-0 start. Starting quarterback Billy Edwards went down early in the season opener and head coach Luke Fickell’s commitment to throwing the ball on nearly every down has been a different look for some longtime Badger fans.

The Badgers opened it up offensively during the second half of their win last week over Middle Tennessee, winning that game 42-10.

Wisconsin has been led by its defense under defensive coordinator Mike Tressell. The Badgers have allowed only 10 points over two games, and rank third in the nation in total defense.

The Badgers’ schedule won’t get any easier after they visit Alabama. The Big Ten conference games begin for Wisconsin on Sept.20 when they host Maryland.

In October, Wisconsin faces Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State and Oregon in consecutive weeks.

The game at Alabama kicks off at 11am on Sept. 13.
