Baumann named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

Wisconsin women’s soccer junior Hailey Baumann has been named the Big Ten defensive player of the week, the Big Ten announced this week.

Baumann recorded an assist in Wisconsin’s 4-0 shutout win over Central Michigan last week before scoring the game-winning goal against Marquette over the weekend.

Baumann has also been named to the 2025 MAC Hermann Trophy watch list. The MAC Hermann trophy is college soccer’s most prestigious award- akin to the Heisman Trophy- and is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club.

Baumann, a junior defender from South Lyon, Michigan, is coming off a sophomore season in which she earned All-Big Ten honors. Baumann was key in Wisconsin’s run to the Sweet 16 last season.

Wisconsin remains undefeated at 4-0 this season and is ranked 21st in the NCAA.
