Looked at as one of the top basketball recruits in the state and country, Sun Prairie junior forward Jalen Johnson announced Sunday via Twitter he is transferring to Nicolet High School from Sun Prairie.

The 6-foot-8 Johnson averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds per game as a sophomore last season as he helped Sun Prairie reach the WIAA Division 1 state tournament for the first time. The second-ranked Cardinals lost in overtime in the state semifinal to Brookfield East, 52-50, at the Kohl Center.

One of the top basketball recruits in the 2020 class, a few schools that Johnson has received interest from already are Duke, North Carolina, Kansas and Wisconsin.

Johnson’s little brother, Kobe Johnson, an incoming sophomore, is also transferring to Nicolet.
