Jeffrey Jackson, the former Middleton alder for District 5, will run for the open District 6 alder seat on the council, his campaign announced on Thursday.
Jackson previously represented District 5 on the council from 2023 to 2025, serving as a member of the Airport Commission, Finance Committee, Personnel Committee, Landmarks Committee, and License & Ordinance Committee.
“After moving to a new Middleton neighborhood, I learned that my alder seat was open with no incumbent. Given my past experience on council and the fact that I am now settled in from my move, I believe I am well equipped to serve Middleton once again on the Common Council,” Jackson said in a press release.
A key issue of the Jackson campaign is working to fix the section of Pheasant Branch Road from Old Creek Road north to the northern city limits. “The issue most top of mind for District 6 residents when I talk to folks, especially those in Middleton Hills and Pheasant Branch Ridge, is the dire condition of Pheasant Branch Road,” Jackson said. “It is without much question the most dangerous road in our city, especially at night and for bicyclists. Its twisty nature gives it a high crash rate, and there is no plan in place for at least five years to do anything about the road like a reconstruction to add curb and gutter or sidewalk.”
Other issues Jackson hopes to focus on if elected, according to his campaign, are mitigating the impacts of climate change, promoting public safety, and ensuring access to affordable housing.
The general election will be Tuesday, April 7, 2026. If more than two candidates file to run for the seat, the primary election would be scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17.
