The Urban League and MadREP have previously announced that Dr. Tony Byers, best known for leading and revitalizing Starbucks’ highly respected and successful diversity and inclusion efforts, will be a keynote speaker at the 2018 Madison RegionNew Economic Development & Diversity Summit on May 16. Today, they have announced two more dynamic speakers that will be featured.
Amy Lynch, founder of Generational Edge and Mary Burke, founder of Building Brave, will join Byers, former Director of Global Diversity & Inclusion with Starbucks, in presenting a compelling program for business and community leaders at the Summit which will take place Wednesday, May 16, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Monona Terrace Community & Convention Center.
The day-long summit will engage, educate, and empower attendees around issues related to economic, workforce, and community development. The event will feature keynote speakers, break-out sessions, and ample networking opportunities. Participants will represent the entire eight-county Madison Region, with an anticipated audience of 600+ business executives, community leaders, economic development professionals, educators, elected officials, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders.

Mary Burke, CEO and founder of Building Brave
Mary is a businesswoman, philanthropist and social entrepreneur. She is CEO and Founder of Building Brave, an organization whose vision is to create a global, online community of 10 million women who connect, inspire and empower each other. In 2014, she was the first woman in Wisconsin history to win the nomination for governor for a major party. She is also a tireless community volunteer. Her work with Building Brave is focused on countering the message women often receive that tell them they will be better liked and more accepted if they tone it down, if they play smaller.
