The Latino Academy of Workforce Development, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County, will host a Construction Career Fair on Friday, March 7, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center, 5215 Verona Rd. in Fitchburg.
The fair is open to job seekers of all backgrounds, including youth and families, according to a press release from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County (BGCDC). With Madison Metropolitan Schools closed that day for parent-teacher conferences, organizers are hoping that students will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about career possibilities in the skilled trades. Job seekers can pre-register here.
“The Latino Academy of Workforce Development is proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County to host a Construction Career Fair at the McKenzie Workforce Center. Expanding access to career opportunities that lead to economic mobility and a high quality of life is essential for our community,” said Nydia Martinez, executive director of the Latino Academy of Workforce Development, Inc. “This event creates a valuable space for individuals to connect directly with employers, ask questions, and explore careers in construction. By collaborating with industry leaders, we are strengthening the workforce, supporting businesses, and advancing careers that offer family-sustaining wages.”
The Construction Career Fair is designed to connect job seekers with leading employers in the construction industry and aims to bring together 20 companies actively looking to hire.
“Our goal is to inspire and prepare the next generation of skilled workers,” said Alan Branch, vice president of Workforce Development at Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County. “By partnering with key industry leaders, we are building stronger career pipelines that support both individuals and businesses.”
In the days leading up to the career fair, youth can participate in interactive workshops at the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center to build essential career skills.
