The state of Wisconsin confirmed 3,493 new coronavirus cases and 16 deaths on Sunday, considerably lower than the record-setting 5,278 cases and 60 deaths reported yesterday.
With more that 18,000 tests processed, the daily positive test rate was 19.3 percent — still very high, but lower than yesterday’s 35.5 percent.
Still, the seven-day positive test rate jumped to 29.5 percent, up from 28.8 on Saturday.
The total number of cases ever confirmed in Wisconsin is now 228,864, of which about 47,551 — just under 21% — are considered active. That’s down slightly from Saturday.
Eight patients are currently being cared for in the alternate care facility in Milwaukee, down from 11 on Saturday. Statewide, 1,534 people are currently hospitalized, 24 more than Saturday and 239 more than a week ago, but lower than the record high of 1,546.
The seven-day average of new cases per day rose to 4,298. The seven-day average of deaths rose to 38.43.
Deaths were reported in nine counties. The 16 fatalities reported bring the total death toll to 2,047. Locations of all deaths are below:
