The Madison Black Chamber of Commerce will bring back its Holiday Black Bazaar for its third year, with plans for it to be even bigger and better than its previous iterations.
The Holiday Black Bazaar is part of the Black Chamber’s lineup of signature events that prop up small business owners across Madison. Now on its third year, the holiday event plans to be bigger than its last rounds with two days instead, around 50 vendors, entertainment and at a new location.
“My mind thinks bigger and bigger year over year,” said Camille Carter, CEO of the Black Chamber. “We really want to make it more of a destination, not just a full shopping experience, but we really do want to incorporate more of the spirit of the holidays.”

This year will be the first time the Holiday Black Bazaar will go for two days. The Black Chamber wants to step it up this year with even more slated for attendees to experience.
Carter, who is very fond of Christmas and the spirit of the holidays due to her birthday being around then, finds it a bit of a shame that they would only have decor up for less than a day before tearing it all down.
“Christmas comes and goes so fast, and I never want to see the decorations come down. I never want to pull them down,” Carter said. “I feel the same way when we have done our Holiday Black Bazaars in the past. We put in a lot of work into the decorations, and they’re so gorgeous, and then we pull them down.”
With its now two-day spread, the Black Chamber will feature more vendors — 50 across both days with mixed availability on each day — than its previous years. The prior year saw 40 vendors at The Orpheum, the only year the Holiday Black Bazaar was held there.
New additions include entertainment with music and some spoken word performances. One of the parts the Black Chamber is most excited about is pictures with Santa.

“I’m really excited that we at least get two full days to really be in this creative environment that we are building for our businesses and for our community to experience, and hopefully, be able to transfer the joy of the season and give people a sense of happiness and thankfulness,” Carter said.
The Holiday Black Bazaar will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7, noon-6 p.m. at the Black Business Hub, 2352 S. Park St.
