For the 13th year in a row, public and private spaces throughout the City of Madison will become musical stages on June 21 with over 200 free live performances for Make Music Madison.
Coffee shops, community centers, schools, front porches, public libraries, and park shelters will all feature a diversity of music at Make Music Madison, a free, citywide day of music every June 21. Make Music Day is a celebration that occurs in more than 1,000 cities across the globe. Madison began participating in 2013 and now boasts one of the largest events in the country.
This summer extravaganza invites the community to celebrate the longest day of the year together outdoors and invest in the local and creative community, according to a press release from the City of Madison, the host of the annual event.
Make Music Madison brings the community together to celebrate the power and joy live music provides to the community, culture, and economy. Musicians represent all genres, styles of music, skill levels, and ages and can play one show or as many as they like.
The performances are free; however, tipping is encouraged.
The city of Verona, located just outside of Madison, will also host its first-ever Make Music Day on Saturday, June 21, with performances from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Century School Park, 309 W. Verona Ave., and 1-4 p.m. at ART House 360, located at 401 West Verona Avenue. Ian’s Pizza is offering free slices of pizza while they last.
