After missing out on the 2020 season due to the pandemic, Madison’s baseball team is getting a new look.
The Madison Mallards will unveil a new logo, uniform colors and more Madison-centered branding on Saturday beginning at 6:30 pm, followed by a screening of the baseball classic “The Sandlot” at 7:10, at Warner Park.
Team president Vern Stenman said the new look will reflect a renewed connection with the community.
“The Mallards, for 20 years, have been a unique place in our community for our community to come together. Our feeling is that here in 2021, that’s going to be more important than ever,” Stenman said. “It made us kind of think about what could we do with our branding to make an even deeper connection with our community and really be fun. I think that at the end of the day, our responsibilities are a couple of things. In this community, I think we want to be a spot for people to come together, and we want to be fun. And I think we wanted to make sure that our branding reflected that as we move forward into what I think is going to be an important time for people to get back out and come together.”
The event is free and open to the public. Gates will open at 6 pm. Stenman said the club expects around 500 fans, and will ensure that fans remain distanced from households other than their own.
Food and beverage will be available for purchase, the team store will be open to pick up new Mallards gear, and everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to sit on the field for the movie, the club said in a press release.
Those who want to attend must RSVP to the event at this link and the emailed tickets will be digitally scanned upon entry to the ballpark.
