The Sherman Avenue United Methodist Church on Madison’s north side will host its 2nd Hand Chic Boutique on Sunday, April 24, 3-5 p.m. The event will honor Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
“We want to honor Sexual Assault Awareness Month and create a safe and welcoming space for survivors to share their stories and find gently-used and new clothing for job interviews, events or emergency clothing,” Caitlin McGahan, executive minister at Sherman Church, tells Madison365. “The 2nd Hand Chic Boutique is a place that helps support second chances and new beginnings after trying times.”
The 2nd Hand Chic Boutique will have available free gently used and new women’s clothing (business, active and casual wear) in sizes M-4XL, along with handbags and jewelry.
“We received even more new clothing donations that we did for October. My heart is overwhelmed with all the support that we continue to receive through donations and the community,” McGahan says.
The 2nd Hand Chic Boutique will also have women’s shoes sizes 7.5-11, some light winter coats and scarves sizes M-3XL. There will also be some men’s button-up shirts, size M.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month is an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.
