Republican small business owner Will Martin officially announced his campaign for lieutenant governor of Wisconsin on Monday.
In his campaign announcement video, Martin called himself a “common-sense conservative” and said that too many of our young people are facing a “quiet crisis.”
“Too many of our young people, and our young at heart, are leaving Wisconsin. Jobs are being lost. AI and automation are disrupting industries. And for far too many, homeownership has become a distant, if not impossible dream.” said Martin. “As a small business owner, I’ve seen how government red tape kills innovation and opportunity. As lieutenant governor, I’ll work to cut the size and cost of state government and restore the promise of the American dream. Together, let’s ignite a new era of freedom, opportunity, and prosperity, from Kenosha to Cornucopia.”
At his campaign website, Martin said that “he helped grow Wisconsin’s economy, train our people for family-supporting careers, and advance housing affordability in senior leadership roles under Governors Tommy Thompson and Scott Walker.”
“As Lt. Governor, I will help the next Governor shrink and streamline state government, cut its cost and regulatory burden, and make it work for you again,” Martin said on his website.
David Varnam, the former mayor of Lancaster, Wis., is also running as a Republican and launched his campaign on Sept. 25. Sarah Godlewski, the current Secretary of State in Wisconsin, is the only candidate for the position so far on the Democratic side.
