United States Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was recently named an honorary member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated at its 56th National Convention in Indianapolis. The “Divine Nine” organization announced its 2023 Honorary members which featured Jackson and six other trailblazing women including Ambassador Bonnie D. Jenkins, Channing Dungey, Rashida Jones, Tamika Catchings, Debra Lee, and Phyllis Newhouse.
Jackson made history on Dec. 13, 2022, as the first Black woman to be confirmed to the US Supreme Court.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a historically Black Greek letter organization “committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community.” Delta Sigma Theta was founded on Jan. 13, 1913, by 22 women at Howard University in Washington, D.C and now has over 350,000 members committed to its pillars of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action.
Honorary membership is the highest honor extended to women who have made significant contributions to society while excelling in their chosen fields, according to Delta Sigma Theta’s website.
