The race to determine who will be Verona Area School District’s new superintendent has narrowed to three as finalist Rainey Briggs has informed Madison365 that he has withdrawn his candidacy for the superintendent position.
For the past four years, Briggs has been the director of elementary education for the Middleton Cross-Plains School District. Prior to that, he was the principal at Horizon Elementary School in the Sun Prairie Area School District.
The remaining finalists for the Verona School District superintendent include Dr. Tremayne Clardy, chief of schools for elementary education for Madison Metropolitan School District, Verona assistant superintendent Laurie Burgos, and Waukesha deputy superintendent Dr. Joseph Koch.
The Verona Area Board of Education will make make a decision and announcement on the new superintendent on Monday, Dec. 21. Whoever is selected will start in July 2021.
