The Arts + Literature Laboratory and the Middleton Community Development Authority will host the 10th annual Strollin’ Middleton Jazz Festival on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 5-6, at the Stone Horse Green in Middleton.

This milestone year marks a decade of bringing jazz, food, and community together in downtown Middleton, according to a press release from the Arts + Literature Laboratory, and attendees are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets, or to enjoy food and drinks from local restaurants, shops, and participating food trucks for two nights of jazz and fun for all ages.

The Strollin’ Middleton Jazz Festival is also made possible with support from Dane Arts, Isthmus, and the John and Carolyn Peterson Charitable Foundation, Inc. Admission is free for all concerts.

The Stone Horse Green is located at 7550 Hubbard Ave. in Middleton. The 10th annual Strollin’ Middleton Jazz Festival lineup, per the Arts + Literature Laboratory, is as follows.

Friday, Sept. 5,

5:30 p.m. Madi-Son Latin Project

Madi-Son Latin Project features Darren Sterud, a freelance trombonist active in Wisconsin and Minnesota; Yorvanis Duran, a highly accomplished percussionist and music educator from Cuba; Ben Ferris, a bassist and educator from Madison; Chris Rottmayer, a jazz pianist, composer, and vibraphonist based in Madison; and Brayan Riascos, a percussionist and drummer, originally from Colombia.

7:30 PM: Matt Blair Quartet

 This quartet brings together diverse talents of Matt Blair, a pianist, composer, and educator based in Madison; Russ Johnson, a trumpeter and recent Midwest transplant from New York City; Brian Courage, originally from Long Island, New York, a bassist who has been an integral part of creative music scenes in Minneapolis, Brooklyn, and Chicago; and Hannah Johnson, a drummer and composer from Milwaukee.

Saturday, Sept. 6

5 PM: Jon Hoel Trio

This trio showcases a blend of improvisation and diverse musical styles and features Jonathan Hoel, a Madison-based saxophonist and composer; Ben Ferris (see description above); and Kelby Kryshak, a versatile drummer, music producer, and creator from Madison.

7 PM: Moses Patrou Band

Moses Patrou is a singer and songwriter from New York City.
