Auditions Will Be Held This Weekend for “The Whipping Man”

Directed by Dana Pellebon, “The Whipping Man” explores the bitter irony of Jewish slave-owning and the challenging new world in which former slaves and masters find themselves. The Madison Theatre Guild is seeking three actors for Matthew Lopez’s fascinating drama for the spring production (March 3-18, 2017) at the Bartell Theatre.

Character breakdown:
Simon – 50’s, former slave in the DeLeon Home. African-American. Male.
Caleb – 20’s, only child of the DeLeon Family. Caucasian. Male.
John – 20’s – former slave in the DeLeon Home. African-American. Male.

Auditions will be Sunday, December 11, 7-9 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 12, 7-9 p.m. at the Lakeview Moravian Community Church, 3565 Tulane Ave. If you can’t attend either, contact the producer.

You will be asked to do cold readings from the script. Please also bring a completed audition form and a calendar marked with any conflicts. Casting decisions will be made as soon as possible. Please be patient. We will contact everyone by phone or e-mail. In addition, the cast list will be posted on the Madison Theatre Guild website shortly after people are notified.
