SapSap founder Alex Hanesakda will lead a panel titled “Nourishing Roots: Celebrating and Sustaining Food Cultures in Communities of Color” on October 28 at the 365 Leadership Summit presented by UW Credit Union.

This panel aims to delve into the rich food traditions of communities of color, examining how these practices contribute to cultural identity, community health, and sustainability. It seeks to highlight the role of food in cultural expression and discuss ways to protect and promote these traditions in sustainable manners.

The seventh annual summit will take place October 28 and include more than 20 panel discussion on a wide range of topics, as well as the largest-ever 365 Leadership Community Choice Awards. Registration is open now at this link.

Alex Hanesakda, born in the Ubon Thailand refugee camp, is the visionary founder of SapSap, where he champions cultural heritage through culinary innovation. Recognized as one of the most influential Asians in 2022, Alex draws upon his rich Lao heritage to create a vibrant culinary enterprise. The mission of SapSap extends beyond food; it serves to educate and connect communities, honoring the resilience and triumphs of the Lao refugee diaspora. In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Alex actively collaborates with the Hmong Chamber of Commerce to support community growth and development. Balancing his responsibilities at SapSap with his role as business development manager in the Milwaukee area, he remains committed to authenticity and empowerment, believing firmly in the transformative power of storytelling through culture and cuisine. Alex is dedicated to nurturing small businesses and inspiring aspiring entrepreneurs, assisting them in their endeavors and helping them achieve their professional aspirations.
