The 2025 Anesis Conference will bring together mental health professionals, advocates, and scholars from across the Midwest and beyond to explore the latest in multicultural mental health practices, research, and policies Aug. 21-22 at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in downtown Madison.
The annual event will feature three keynote speakers, including Shan Boodram, a certified sexologist and intimacy educator; Prentis Hemphill, the founder of The Embodiment Institute; and Dr. Raquel Martin, a psychologist, professor, and author.
Founded in 2016 by Myra McNair, Anesis Therapy is at the forefront of delivering culturally sensitive and visionary mental health care in Dane County, operating as a state-certified DHS clinic offering mental health, substance abuse, and case management services.
The Anesis Multicultural Mental Health Conference, an impactful event dedicated to advancing multicultural understanding and inclusivity within mental health care, will have an expanded conference format featuring six dynamic tracks, according to a press release from the non-profit, including Sacred Bodies, Sacred Generations, Sacred Practice, Sacred Identities, Sacred Community, and Sacred Traditions. These tracks reflect the conference’s commitment to honoring various dimensions of healing while advancing culturally competent mental healthcare practices.
“This expansion represents our commitment to creating deeper conversations around culturally competent mental healthcare,” says McNair, the founder and executive director of Anesis Therapy, in a press release. “With our theme of ‘Sacred Spaces’ and an incredible lineup of speakers and sessions, we’re creating an unprecedented opportunity for learning, connection, and transformation in the mental health field.”
