Bliss Devereaux Anderson named inaugural COO of Madison Public Market

Bliss Devereaux Anderson will be the inaugural Chief Operating Officer of The Madison Public Market, the Madison Public Market Foundation announced on Monday.

“Over the past 15 years, Bliss has been an outstanding leader, role model, and immovable force in the community and now brings seasoned experience in strategic planning, organizational development, advocacy, and community building to the Public Market. She worked previously as the executive director of a non-profit organization for 12 years and has experience helping minority-led organizations build and grow their business,” the Madison Public Market said in a statement announcing the hiring of Anderson. “She is elated to build equity through entrepreneurship here at Madison Public Market.”

Anderson officially began in her new role on Feb. 10 where she is primarily responsible for tenant operations and facility management, among other duties. As COO, she will be committed to inspiring and building partnerships with Madison’s local businesses while fulfilling the mission and vision of the Madison Public Market Foundation.

Madison’s brick-and-mortar public market is set to open in 2025 at the corner of First St. & E. Johnson St. on Madison’s East Side. According to its website, the Madison Public Market will attract 500,000-plus visitors each year, support 130-plus local businesses, create 100 jobs, and generate $16 million in local sales annually.
