People in their 20s had the most cases today with 25 – almost 40% of all new cases – while those in their 30s and 50s also had a double digit growth in their age groups with 10 and 11 more respectively. Those between 0-9 grew by two while those between 10-19 grew by eight and those in their 40s grew by seven.

Dane County reported no new deaths which keeps the total death toll in the county at 33, and total hospitalizations for the county for COVID-19 grew to 268. Of the 33 hospitalized, nine are currently in the ICU which is up from yesterday’s five.

Of the 63 new cases reported today, 10, or 15.87 percent of all new cases, are attributed to those identify as Hispanic or Latinx. They now make up 15.12 percent of all COVID-19 related cases in the County while only making up six percent of the population. There were also four, or 6.35 percent of all new cases, attributed to those who identify as Black. They now make up 12.68 percent of all cases while only making up six percent of the population in Dane County. There were also six more cases for those who identify as Asian or 9.52 percent of all new cases. They make up 3.78 of all cornorvirus cases in Dane County and about five percent of the population.

As the number of negative tests reported is lagged by several days, the most updated data on positive test percentage for a day is for July 16, with the positive test percentage has been updated to 12.24 percent while updated numbers now have July 15 at 3.85%, July 14 at 6.8 percent, July 13 at 3.52 percent, and July 12 at 3.35 percent. Initial data for July 19 – July 16 is available on the dashboard, however, Madison365 expects that these numbers will adjust considerably as more negative and positive tests are attributed to those dates in the coming days. The break down for each day can be found on Public Health of Madison and Dane County’s Dashboard.

Earlier this week, Madison365 updated our interactive Dane County Coronavirus Map with dates ranging from June 22 – July 21. The map will be updated weekly.

We will have an update of today’s statewide numbers later this afternoon.
