Dane County confirmed 78 new coronavirus cases Friday, which brings the County’s total past 3,300 to 3,376. Of those 3,376 cases, 1,185 are considered active.
Though the largest number of today’s cases are attributed to those in theirs 20s with 22 more cases, the cases are spread throughout all age ranges. There were nine new cases for children between 0-9, with 13 more between the ages of 10-19 and 10 cases for those in their 30s. Those in their 40s and 60s both also experienced seven new cases today while those in their 40s grew by six and those in their 70s grew by three with one case for those in their 80s.
Dane County reported no new deaths, which keeps the county’s total at 33 today. Total hospitalizations for the county for COVID-19 grew today to 260 with 30 currently hospitalized for COVID-19 which is up by one from yesterday. Of those 30 cases, eight are still reportedly in the ICU. Of the new hospitalizations, one is in their 40s, 60s, 70s and 80s respectively.
Of the 78 new cases reported today, 18, or 23.08 percent, were attributed to those who identify as Black. They now make up 12.74 percent of all cases while only making up five percent of the population in Dane County. There were also 15 new cases, or 19.23 percent of all new cases for those who identify as Hispanic versus those who are NonHispanic. Hispanic people now make up 15.17 percent of all COVID-19 related cases in the County while only making up five percent of the population.
As the number of negative tests reported is lagged by several days, the most updated data on positive test percentage for a day is for July 10, when the positive test percentage has been updated to 7.65 percent while updated numbers now have July 9 at 4.41 percent. Though some data for the dates for July 11 – 12 are available, Madison365 expects that number to adjust considerably as more negative and positive tests are attributed to those dates in the coming days.

Testing is still available today at Alliant Energy Center from 8am – 4pm. Yesterday, Public Health of Madison and Dane County reported no wait after 9:30am.

Today’s data are not included, but will be included in an update next week.
