Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett will conduct the Capitol City Band on Thursday, July 10, 7 p.m. at Rennebohm Park as part of the band’s annual salute of appreciation to the men and women of the Dane County Sheriff’s Department.

The Capitol City Band officially kicked off its 57th season on June 19 when it performed an entire program dedicated to celebrating Juneteenth.

Since 1981, Jim Latimer, a University of Wisconsin-Madison emeritus music professor, has been leading the Capitol City Band where he has conducted hundreds and hundreds of concerts. Latimer has recently passed the conducting baton to Dave Pedracine, Latimer’s longtime protégé, who has been associate conductor of the band since the 1980s. Pedracine is now the interim music director and conductor, while Latimer is now the music director emeritus.

Rennebohm Park, 115 N Eau Claire Ave., is located on Madison’s West Side behind Hilldale Mall.
