Dr. Maysee Herr has been named the new executive director of the Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce (HWCC), a Community Development Financial Institution that provides economic development assistance in business planning and operations.

Dr. Herr joins HWCC with a decade of experience with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as associate professor to program director, and extensive leadership positions serving as board of director with multiple nonprofits, including Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin and Marathon County Diversity Affairs Commission.  

“After an extensive search with many great candidates, we are excited to welcome Dr. Maysee Herr, to HWCC as our new Executive Director. Maysee brings a wealth of knowledge in non-profits, education and sustainability for organizations. We know she will provide great leadership, program developments, and will help bring the Chamber to the next level of excellence,” said Patrick Martin, co-chair of the Board of Directors for HWCC, in a press release.

Dr. Herr earned her bachelor of arts degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and went on to pursue her master’s of science and Ph.D. studies in Education from Indiana University.

“I am thrilled to be returning to my home state of Wisconsin to serve as Executive Director of the Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce,” Dr. Herr said in a statement. “Together with the HWCC board and staff, I look forward to further strengthening the relationships that the chamber has with individuals, organizations, and businesses in Wisconsin and helping to increase the number of Hmong and Southeast Asian entrepreneurs and business owners around the state.”
