Drumline Live returns to Overture Center on Jan. 5 bringing HBCU marching band experience to stage

Drumline Live will be returning to the Overture Center on Friday, Jan. 5 to bring riveting rhythms, bold beats, and ear-grabbing energy based on the marching band traditions at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). Drumline Live tours the country and internationally showcasing the synchronized and energized musical performances often only seen live in person at HBCU events.

“We will have the audience out of their seats and on their feet within five minutes of the show’s start,” said Don Roberts, president, CEO and director of Drumline Live, in a release when talking about the marching band’s return to Overture Center.

Roberts went on to equate their show to a rollercoaster ride as “the most exciting show on stage.”

Roberts co-founded Drumline Live in 2008 and would see the fruits of his labor pay off just a decade later when Drumline Live shared the stage with Beyoncé at Coachella in 2018. The performance will incorporate original compositions as well as soul-infused interpretations of currently popular hits with group performances ranging from vibrantly choreographed routines to electrifying drum riffs and cadences.

“This high-energy show will take you up, down and all around,” Roberts said in the release. “It will touch every emotion in the body, and you will feel different when you leave than when you came in the door.”

Drumline Live will perform in Overture Hall on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 pm. Tickets ranging from $25 to $60 are available on the Overture website. Drumline Live will then move on to Milwaukee for a Jan. 6 performance at Uihlein Hall.
