Award-winning actor, director, author, and education advocate LeVar Burton will moderate a conversation on how schools, families, and communities can pursue educational excellence at One City’s community celebration, “Rally For Our Future,” on Thursday, July 10, 6-10 p.m.. at The Sylvee on Madison’s East Side.
“One City is more than a school. We are a movement,” said Kaleem Caire, founder & CEO of One City Schools, in a press release announcing the event. “We are working to create a new model of public education that prepares every child to thrive in the 21st century. Our mission is rooted in closing opportunity gaps and ensuring all students have access to the high-quality education they deserve.”
One City’s mission is to build a better, more equitable future for all through high-quality, transformative education for children in Dane County and across Wisconsin. “Rally For Our Future,” celebrating the 10th anniversary of One City Schools, will be presented by Summit Credit Union, a longtime community partner of One City.
“Summit is proud of our longstanding partnership with One City Schools,” said Summit CEO & President Kim Sponem. “When youth develop effective money management skills, they are better prepared for lifelong financial wellness. The Summit Credit Union branch at One City Schools is just one example of the innovative educational approach One City Schools provides for their students.”
